2007 Toys for Kids

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM:

For over twenty years the Santa Rosa Fire Fighters Local 1401 has conducted a toy collection for needy children of the Santa Rosa area. This unique spirit of Christmas, conducted in cooperation with the community, businesses and supporting agencies affords an opportunity to reach out and provide those less fortunate children in the Santa Rosa area with at least one new toy at the Holiday Season. The 2006 Toys for Kids program distributed toys to over 12,000 children through the following organizations: Schools: Kwana, Biella, Bellevue, Lincoln, Steel Lane, Meadow VIew, Luther Burbank, Cook, Comstock, Sheppard, Elsie Allen, Head Start Selpa and Roseland Shelters: Redwood Gospel, St. Vincent De Paul, Women's Recovery, Y.W.C.A. Safe house, Children's Home, Homeless Shelter, R.E.A.P. and Athena House. Community Groups: Forest Winds Apts., Giving Tree, Kashia Reservation, Bob Burk's kids, Papago Ct. neighborhood Assn. , Aston Ave. Neighborhood Assn. Gang Intervention Program, American Legion Auxiliary and R-Hoops.

WAYS TO DONATE:

SANTA ROSA PLAZA SHOPPING CENTER - Firefighters and their family's will be at Santa Rosa Plaza from Noon - 8pm, December 7th - 22nd accepting new un-wrapped toys and cash donations.

FIRE STATIONS - Visit any Santa Rosa or Rincon Valley Fire Station from Thanksgiving to Christmas eve. Look for the collection barrels in front of the stations during the holiday season.

All monies collected are used at local stores to purchase toys at a discount. All overhead costs are covered by the Firefighters Union, with 100% of the money donated is used to buy toys.

You may have noticed our name has changed from "Toys for Tots" to "Toys for Kids". "Toys for Tots" was patented by a national organization managed from Virginia. We believe toys and monies collected locally should stay local.
